The practice of yoga is incredibly broad and vastly deep, but most approaches to understanding the work start with a branch called ‘asana’, commonly known as postural yoga. It is the part that gives every practitioner an entry point to a deeper understanding of the myriad benefits of what yoga offers, and hopefully serve as an entry point to a deeper understanding of self. Also, it’s really good to move your body!
This workshop will include an opening discussion highlighting some touchstones of the philosophy and use them as a basis to move through the most common sequences found in postural yoga, the Sun Salutation (Surya Namaskar) and its variations. Via this process, every attendee will have the base knowledge to walk into any open-level form of practice and feel comfortable in their ability to move through the postures with strength and ease. As with all well-rounded classes, space will be held for breath practice and meditation.
This workshop will dive deep into the fundamentals and is appropriate for all practitioners.
